Sticker Bombed Shaped Case

A fun little project. I sticker bombed this shaped case Rheuben had made for his saxophones years ago. The round edges proved to be especially difficult, I had to cut slits in many of the stickers in order to get… Continue Reading…

Frozen Mark VI Rollers

A common problem with vintage saxophones is stuck rollers. Unfortunately these rollers cannot always be saved, especially if they are real pearl rollers. Vintage Selmer saxophone rollers, however, are not pearl and are often times salvable.   This beautiful horn… Continue Reading…

Polishing Keys on a Full Boehm Selmer BT

This clarinet is part of Rheuben Allen’s collection. I just wanted to showcase the beautiful sheen of nickel-silver keys when they are polished again. Here are photos of the Balanced Tone on a jig, and how the keys turned out… Continue Reading…

Buescher Straight Alto Saxophone

No repairwork was done. Rick Izumi was kind enough to show his Buescher straight alto to me. The pads are all original. This horn is in mint shape (aside from the tarnish of course) and has never been worked on.… Continue Reading…

Selmer Radio Improved Alto

This alto saxophone belongs to Benn Clatworthy and is in for an overhaul and polish. Note: I never use buffing wheels on saxophones so as to preserved the integrity of the tone holes and engraving. Here are some photos after… Continue Reading…

H. Couf Superba Bridge Key Replacement & Dentwork

Alto Clarinet Bell Dent Work

This particular bell is the bell of a Malerne alto clarinet. It was dropped and clearly landed on the side of the key guard for the low Eb. The hit pushed in the tone hole and popped the entire guard… Continue Reading…
